Turbocharging the Atmospheric Engine

Turbocharging the Atmospheric Engine

This is not a very simple process, as it shows a lot of workmanship and parts. Let's briefly talk about the necessary processes and parts.

- Exhaust Manifold

The first process is to first make or buy an exhaust manifold that can fit the engine. The reason we connect it to the exhaust manifold is because the turbo is fed with exhaust gases. Ready-made kits are offered for sale at a reasonable price, but mostly people who know do not recommend these kits. The reason why poor-quality and cheap kits are not recommended is that they put a load on the turbo and move with excess heat, which causes it to crack and break quickly.

-Turbo and Oil Pan Operation

The engine should be preferred in a suitable and high-quality size. The reason for choosing a large turbo is that the turbo lag increases with more performance. The reason for using engine oil is due to the lubrication of the turbo and the lack of a system of its own diameter. In order to add engine oil to the oil pan on top of the turbo, two holes should be drilled, inlet and outlet, so that operation can be easily provided.

-İntercooler

When the air is trapped in the turbo, the pressure will increase, so the temperature will also increase. The hot air must be re-cooled without being delivered to the pistons. The reason is that the cooled air will burn more strongly. Space needs to be set for the intercooler in the rear part of the bumper. The connection of this intercooler is also from the outlet part of the turbo to the air intake part.

- Injectors

In addition to sending air through the intercooler, we need to send more fuel. We do this process thanks to injections. Injections serve to spray more fuel with more pressure.

-Fuel Pump

We need a fuel pump due to the arrangement of the resulting fuel. We need to use them to make a smooth and better setup.

-Radiator

The more the engine heats up, the more air and fuel enter, which can lead to a large explosion. We should get a bigger radiator for better cooling. The reason is due to the fact that the original radiator literally cannot provide the required efficiency.

Since the manifold is differentiated and the turbo is added, we can configure the exhaust system again according to the setup. After these functions are completed for the ECU (Electronic Control Unit), the software map must be determined. If the vehicle's own ECU is not a new type, we need to buy a new ECU suitable for the vehicle and software.
